:::Pagani Zonda:::

The Pagani Zonda (often mistaken as being a cheep rip-off version of a Honda) is capable of speeds up to 346 km/h (215 mph) (that I could find, although there are lots of different models of the car...) and 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. Early engineering on the Zonda was done by the Formula One champion Juan Manuel Fangio and was originally going to be named the "Fangio F1" after him. When he died it was renamed the Zonda after an air current above Argentina. The body of the Zonda is made mostly of carbon fibre to make it light weight. The Zonda debut in 1999.

:::Thrust SSC:::

The Thrust SSC is the current holder of the landspeed record with a speed of 1 228 km/h (763 mph). The Thrust SSC (Super Sonic Car) was the first land vehicle to successfully break the sound barrier. The Thrust features two turbojet engines that enable it to reach such speeds. Thrust SSC broke the record on October 15, 1997 at Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

On the picture above you can see the shock waves as it breaks the sound barrier!

Here you can see down the two jet engines.

Here it is smashing through the sound barrier!

:::SSC Ultimate Aero:::

The Ultimate Aero was built by Shelby Super Cars to rival the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest production car in the world. The Aero succeeded in this and as of October 2007 is the latest car to hold the position as the worlds fastest production car!! The Aero has a top speed of 412.233 km/h (256.15 mph) and a re-adjustment of the transmission makes it possible to reach speeds of 437 km/h (although a run at that speed hasn't been done yet).

:::Saleen S7:::

The Saleen S7 is considered to be America's first production certified supercar and is the first car made by Saleen that is not based on the design of another car (for example the Saleen Mustangs - based on the Ford Mustang). The S7 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is above 322 km/h (200 mph). The orignal was replaced by a twin-turbo version in 2005. The S7 was also the very first car to be completely developed digitally.
